Soul Stewardship: Owning Your Gates with Bold Faith

Soul Stewardship: Owning Your Gates with Bold Faith

Scripture Reading:

Proverbs 25:28
"A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls." (ESV)

Reflection:

Have you ever felt like you're spinning your wheels, working tirelessly on your business, your calling, or even your personal growth, only to feel defeated by fear, doubt, or frustration? What if I told you that these struggles often stem from unguarded gates in your life?

In biblical times, gates represented authority, decision-making, and protection. Similarly, you have gates that govern your life—the gates of your mind, will, emotions, and actions. These gates are pivotal in determining whether you rise or falter in your God-given assignment.

Taking authority over your gates begins with recognizing their significance. Your thoughts (mind), decisions (will), and feelings (emotions) are all areas the enemy seeks to infiltrate. Why? Because if he can control these, he can keep you stagnant and distracted.

Numbers 13 tells the story of the spies sent to Canaan. Ten saw giants and deemed themselves grasshoppers; only two saw the promise and trusted God’s authority over the situation. Their perspectives determined their outcomes. Similarly, when your mind is clouded by self-doubt or when your emotions dominate your decisions, you relinquish authority over your life and your calling.

But here’s the good news: You can take it back. Guarding your gates doesn’t mean dismissing how you feel—it means filtering those feelings through God’s truth. What did God say about you? What promise did He give you? The fact that you can see the vision means it’s yours to claim.

When you regulate your gates, you build walls of protection around your life, making it harder for the enemy to infiltrate. You can move forward in your calling with clarity, confidence, and peace, knowing that God’s hand is on your life and your work.

Strategic Call to Action:

  1. Identify one area of your life where your gates feel unguarded (e.g., your thoughts, emotions, or actions).
  2. Write down a promise from Scripture that directly speaks to that area.
  3. Create a declaration you can speak daily to take authority over that gate.

Prayer:

Father, I thank You for the vision You have given me and the authority I have in Christ. Teach me to guard my gates and take captive every thought that tries to exalt itself above Your truth. Help me to align my emotions, decisions, and actions with Your will. Strengthen me to walk boldly in my calling, knowing You are with me every step of the way.

In Jesus’ Name—Amen.
